ANTHBOT Intelligent Perception System, AIPS

ANTHBOT Intelligent Perception System, AIPS

How the most advanced robot lawn mower perception system was created?

(ANTHBOT intelligent perception system, AIPS)

Anyone who has watched our production video should have seen this part. I like this part very much.

This is the calibration and testing process of the ANTHBOT intelligent perception system during production.

When I talked about our entrepreneurial story last time, I mentioned that before the development work began, we had an important understanding that only if the perception system of the robot lawn mower is advanced enough, it can be truly simple and easy to use and can do more things. So in the first stage, we are committed to building an intelligent perception system for the robot lawn mower - that is, the system equipped by Genie.

I think it is full of technological beauty.

Today I would like to use a series of questions to show our thinking process and the concept process of AIPS.

Part 1: Why is intelligent perception system important to robot mower?

1. Why do some people say that traditional robot lawn mowers are difficult to use?

Because it is difficult to set up the line, the breakpoint cannot be determined after the line breaks, and it is not friendly to animals, etc.

Many people have encountered this situation, right?

2. Is it difficult for a robot lawn mower to identify boundaries?

Yes, it is difficult. Take a sweeping robot for comparison. At home, as long as we close the door, the sweeping robot will never run out of the room. And its boundaries are all walls, which are easier to identify. The boundaries of the lawn are difficult to determine. Sometimes it may be a swimming pool, it may be a ditch, or it may be connected to other lawns. . . In short, it is difficult to accurately identify in 100% of cases.

3. Why are traditional robot lawn mowers inefficient and miss areas?

Because the perception ability of traditional robot lawn mowers is very weak, they can only randomly turn an angle when they detect the boundary line. For this reason, its efficiency is also very low. (Genie is more than 3 times more efficient than traditional robot lawn mowers)

The right side is the path of a traditional robot lawn mower, and the left side is the path of Genie.

4. Why do traditional robot lawn mowers harm lawns?

Because the perception ability of traditional robot lawn mowers is weak, the way they turn is to turn randomly when they encounter the boundary line, so in some corners, they will turn a lot of times, causing great damage to the lawn in some areas.

Even in other areas, because it cannot plan mowing, it repeats mowing too many times and crushes the lawn a lot, which is not good for the grass.

The grass in the corners is bald due to the frequent turning wheels of the mowing robot.

If you have used Husqvana or Worx mowing robots, you must have encountered this situation.

5. Why are traditional robot lawn mowers unfriendly to animals and even met with resistance from the Hedgehog Conservation Association?

It is also because traditional robot lawn mowers have no perception ability. They can only turn by collision or boundary detection. If they encounter inflexible small animals, such as hedgehogs, a disaster will occur.

Of course, if the robot has strong perception ability, you can also leave a space for small insects.

Genie is animal-friendly. All because of AIPS.

Therefore, an intelligent perception system is extremely important for a robot lawn mower. It makes the robot easy to use, efficient, and protects the lawn and small animals.

Part 2: How do we build AIPS?

1. Why are existing RTK solutions not stable and reliable enough?

First, existing RTK solutions are highly dependent on satellite signals, because satellite signals are very susceptible to interference, such as large trees and buildings. Therefore, when the lawn is complex and there are many obstructions, the reliability of this technical method drops rapidly.

Second, most of the RTK solutions of existing products are dual-band solutions, which are low-cost but have poor reliability. Genie first chose a full-band RTK satellite communication solution to ensure stability.

2. Why are existing visual solutions not good enough?

First, without the assistance of RTK satellite positioning, the visual solution is very unstable and easily affected by strong light and shadows.

Second, single or dual cameras have blind spots for robot lawn mowers, which are very easy to get stuck in trampolines, boundaries, etc., and the recognition of boundaries is not accurate enough.

It is not friendly to animals because the blind spots are large and may cause harm to animals in the blind spots.

3. Why do we need four cameras?

Two cameras in the front and two cameras on both sides ensure that there are no blind spots when the robot is moving and turning, and at the same time, the boundaries can be accurately recognized during the movement.

The biggest benefit to users: In some scenes with clear boundaries, Genie can automatically build maps, which is truly out-of-the-box.

This is the thinking process of the AIPS concept - full-band RTK + four cameras.

Part 3: What else can the robot mower do when the perception system is advanced enough? What is the potential of AIPS?

A lot, for example:

You can draw patterns on the lawn;

Find something you left on the lawn and notify you;

Identify weeds and remove them in time;

Find that the grass in a certain area is not healthy enough and fertilize it;

Find that the grass in a certain area of the lawn is sparse and replant it to keep the lawn beautiful;

. . . . . .

There are many more.

Your lawn, perfected.

That’s what we hope for!
